Look For New Heavens And A New Earth
2 Peter 3:13 says, “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”

There’s not a lot of things in the world today that we can really count on (Col 3:2). Our economy may show signs of improvement, but prices are still rising due to inflation. There are prospects of worldwide peace by nations led by ungodly rulers, who envision some form of one world government to avoid wars (Isa 48:22). But true peace comes only by trusting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour by faith (Php 4:7)! There are many preachers and churches that are falling away from “sound doctrine” (Titus 1:9); causing doubts and confusion (2 Pet 2:1).
I am thankful that we can still trust and depend on God’s inspired, inerrant, infallible (2 Tim 3:16), and living word (Heb 4:12). It is worthy of our faith because His words “endureth for ever” (1 Pet 1:25). Every promise of God shall come to pass “as it is written” (Rom 3:4)! One of His promises is that we “look for new heavens and a new earth.” Since “the heavens and the earth, which are now” (v. 7), “shall pass away with a great noise” (v. 10a), and “shall be dissolved” (v. 11).
God “made the earth and the heavens” (Gen 2:4), and it will all be destroyed with a big bang at the end, not at the beginning! He shall melt the elements “with fervent heat” (v. 10b). In Chemistry, the atom is the smallest unit of an element. When atoms are combined in a nuclear fusion to form heavier nuclei, it will generate an enormous amount of explosive power. We can only imagine how the Lord will melt the elements, and combine all atoms accordingly to produce the most powerful explosion in the universe! This is necessary to prepare the entrance of the “new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” Because the current creation is “filled with all unrighteousness” (Rom 1:29), caused by sin (Rom 5:12). In that day, all that matters is our personal relationship with Jesus Christ! God bless you all!
