Micah's Uncompromised Preaching
Micah 3:11 says, “The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.”

The prophet Micah ministered to the Southern Kingdom of Judah (1 Ki 12:17), and prophesied the destruction of the Northern Kingdom of Israel (1 Ki 12:16), by the Assyrians (Mic 5:5). He also warned the Southern Kingdom (Mic 1:1), that unless they repent and turn to God, they would also be in danger of facing His judgment! God’s perfect law (Ps 19:7), is His standard to measure the holiness among His people (Lev 11:44). Anything less would be denounced as sin, and will never be tolerated by a Holy and righteous God (Ps 145:17).
He promises mercy and blessings to the repentant hearts (Deut 30:3), but judgment is expected by the disobedient (Prov 17:11). Micah denounced the corruptions of Jerusalem’s political and spiritual leaders – the judges were taking bribe, while the priests and prophets were just a bunch of hirelings (Jn 10:12)! By courageously standing for his godly convictions, he passionately exposed the social evils of his day (v. 2), which made him very unpopular! We need more preachers like Micah in our day. Preachers who would not compromise God’s truth (Ps 138:2). Sadly, many bible-believing churches today have allowed the slippery slope of gradualism to permeate their congregations. Once “a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” (1 Cor 5:6), the truth is compromised (Heb 10:26), and they start to slide down. Both modernism and new evangelicalism have already launched blatant attacks against God’s word (2 Pet 3:3).
They have tolerated many sinful ways, by accommodating and cooperating with those that promote such lifestyles (Prov 17:15). But the faithful messengers of God will only proclaim the plain truth (2 Tim 4:2)! Although Micah’s warnings were ignored, and the people eventually fell into the Babylonian hands (2 Ki 24:1), God’s compassion still gave the remnants of the nation another opportunity to return to Him (Mic 7:18). His grace is truly amazing! God bless you!
