No Excuse For Not Serving God
Mark 6:30 says, “And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.”

After Jesus sent forth His twelve apostles “and gave them power over unclean spirits” (v. 7), they were able to “cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them” (v. 13). Then as they “gathered themselves together unto Jesus,” they were all excited to give Him the good report about the success of their ministry! It is always a blessing to “serve the Lord with gladness” (Ps 100:2). When we reflect on how God saved us “by His grace” (Rom 3:24), and how He brought us up “out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set our feet upon a rock” (Ps 40:2).
Then, to be given the opportunity to even have a small part in His kingdom work (Col 3:24), it is too great to comprehend! We need to understand that Jesus did not just save us from hell (Jn 3:36). He also called us to serve Him “according to His purpose” (Rom 8:28), because “we are His workmanship” (Eph 2:10). He graciously gives special talents and gifts to all His children (1 Cor 12:11). We can then prove the reality of our salvation by putting our faith into action (Jms 2:18)!
It is with great joy and a privilege to be busy in serving our “King of kings” (1 Tim 6:15). And there is no small task in His kingdom (Ps 84:10). Whether you are the pastor, a choir member, usher, nursery worker, or a custodian; it is always an honor to serve Him. The Lord’s apostles had very little training and limited knowledge of the things of God. But after being immersed in the frontlines, they came back rejoicing for “what they had done, and what they had taught.” There’s no excuse for not serving the Lord (Lk 14:18). When we put our faith and prayers into action (Eph 6:18), then we can trust Him to teach and guide us along the way (Ps 32:8)! God bless you!
