Stand Fast In The Lord
1 Thessalonians 3:8 says, “For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.”

The Christian life is constantly bound in a spiritual warfare against our “adversary the devil” (1 Pet 5:8). He is a strong enemy who wants the followers of Christ to falter, fail, and fall! We cannot fight him with our own “flesh and blood” (Eph 6:12), but only in our Saviour’s might (Eph 6:10)! Through His saving power (1 Cor 1:18), He reveals to us the real meaning of life (Ecc 12:13), and our purpose in following Him (Jn 15:5). His great love compels us to keep on preaching and ministering His word (2 Cor 5:14). Therefore, as we live, we must “stand fast in the Lord!” Jesus secured our salvation (Jn 10:28), and promised us a home in Heaven (Jn 14:2).
But we must “grow in grace” (2 Pet 3:18), and bear “the fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22), so we can “stand fast” and not “give place to the devil” (Eph 4:27). To “stand fast” means to maintain our position and hold our ground. Just like Shammah who defended the field of lentiles against the Philistines (2 Sam 23:12). He also did not give up the ground that he fought to gain! Sadly, many Christians lose their ground when they begin to “slip” (Heb 2:1), or backslide (Prov 14:14). That is why we must be firmly settled by being “stedfast, unmoveable” (1 Cor 15:58). This would not be possible if you hop from one church to another and be “tossed to and fro” (Eph 4:14).
We need to be rooted and built up in Christ, “and stablished in the faith” (Col 2:7). Our Bible convictions must be held fast with “sound doctrine” (Titus 1:9). Because if we waver in our faith, then we can wander off and go after worldly things (Col 3:2). People tend to stray away when they don’t care about the eternal consequences of their actions (2 Cor 5:10). However, when our hope is real and we are standing “fast in the Lord,” then there is stability in our faith and our walk with Him! God bless you!
