The Blessings Of Redemption
Ruth 4:13 says, “So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.”

Boaz demonstrated his unselfish love for Ruth in spite of her past (Ruth 2:6); by redeeming her (v. 10), and taking her to be his wife. The Lord blessed them with a son; “they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David” (v. 17). By God’s grace, He used a Moabite named Ruth, to be the great grandmother of king David (1 Ki 2:11), who was also part of Jesus Christ’s lineage (Mt 1:5b)! David even proclaimed that he has “a goodly heritage” (Ps 16:6)! Godly parents are responsible in applying the Biblical principles of raising their children (Prov 22:6).
Through their diligent teaching (Deut 6:7), and loving discipline (Prov 13:24), they help build their character and instill Biblical values that would last a lifetime (Eph 6:4). However, it’s not always guaranteed that children will turn out to be God fearing (Ps 34:9). Because they still have to make their own personal choices (Prov 3:7). That’s why sharing the gospel to children as early as possible is very important – it will make them “wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 3:15)! Parents can surely learn from the godly characters of Boaz and Ruth, so that they too can provide that goodly heritage to their children.
Even though Boaz was the son of Rahab the harlot (Mt 1:5a), and Ruth had a pagan background (Amos 2:1), these first-generation true believers knew the value of serving God (Ruth 1:16), and obeying Him (v. 11)! It seems that most first generation bible-believing Christians truly appreciate the value of obedience and serving God (Col 1:10). But sadly, many of their children don’t see that. Parents, what is true in everything we do at church must also be true at home and anywhere else we go. Our children are always watching and listening to us. They must see that our testimonies and love for God are genuine! God bless you!
