The King Of Kings

1 Timothy 6:15 says, “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;”

Our Lord Jesus “is the blessed and only Potentate” – that term means a person who holds a position as a ruler and possesses a great sovereign power. This is a fitting title for Jesus, Who is highly exalted and given “a name which is above every name” (Php 2:9). He is above any kings or rulers of any nation in the world, “for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings” (Rev 17:4).

When Jesus comes the second time, He will not enter this world as a baby “lying in a manger” (Lk 2:12). He will not be mocked, stripped, beaten, spit upon, and crucified (Mt 26:67). He will not come as the humble “Lamb of God” (Jn 1:29), but as “the Lion of the tribe of Juda” (Rev 5:5). Jesus will “rule all nations with a rod of iron” (Rev 12:5). He will be the “king over all the earth” (Zech 14:9), and “the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God” (1 Tim 1:17)! Jesus is all powerful. After His resurrection (1 Cor 15:4), He declared, “all power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth” (Mt 28:18). The exceeding greatness of His power is promised to be manifested “to us-ward who believe” (Eph 1:19).

He spoke everything into existence and framed the worlds by His word (Heb 11:3). Then He upholds “all things by the word of His power” (Heb 1:3). At the end, He shall command the heavens to pass away, “the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (2 Pet 3:10). Yet, His “words shall not pass away” (Mt 24:35)! There is power in the gospel to save (Rom 1:16), and there is power in the blood of Jesus to wash away our sins (Rev 1:5). Therefore, we should obey His words, which “is quick, and powerful” (Heb 4:12). Jesus showed us His power to conquer death, because He is the only Potentate! God bless you!
