The Reconciling Power Of Salvation
Colossians 1:21 says, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.”

Our Lord Jesus “hath made us free” (Gal 5:1), from the bondage of sin (Rom 8:21), so that we can live holy (1 Pet 1:16), to His glory! Before salvation, we “were dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph 2:1). We were also “alienated and enemies” in our minds “by wicked works.” We did not want anything to do with Him, because “the carnal mind is enmity against God” (Rom 8:7). But Jesus paid the price for redemption with His “precious blood” (1 Pet 1:19), and is “risen from the dead” (1 Cor 15:20); that whosoever would trust Him by faith “shall receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43), and deliverance “from the power of darkness” (v. 13).
He had “reconciled” us to God and we now have “peace with God” (Rom 5:1). As His children (Jn 1:12), we “are bought with a price” (1 Cor 6:20). Our old sinful nature, “which is corrupt” (Eph 4:22), has now been changed so that “all things are become new” (2 Cor 5:17). We were afar off before salvation, but now we are made near “by the blood of Christ” (Eph 2:13). He changed us, and our circumstances have also been changed (Rom 8:28). He is able to present even the vilest of sinners “holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight” (v. 22).
The blood of Jesus has the power to wash our sins away (Rev 1:5), so that when God sees us, we are viewed as spotless (Eph 5:27), and beyond any accusation! As we continue in our faith that is “grounded and settled” (v. 22a), we have the full assurance of our salvation in Jesus (Jn 10:28). And we shall not be “moved away from the hope of the gospel” (v. 22b), which is “an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast” (Heb 6:19). Therefore, “let the redeemed of the Lord” (Ps 107:2), praise and thank Him for His salvation. Let us resolve to have an unshakeable commitment in following Him! God bless you!
