The Scoffers Of These Last Days
2 Peter 3:4 says, “And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”

We are living in these “last days” (2 Tim 3:1), where more and more “scoffers” (v. 3a), are continually rejecting and ridiculing God’s “pure words” (Ps 12:6). They “willingly are ignorant of” (v. 5), or they have voluntarily chosen not to believe the truth! Satan, “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not” (2 Cor 4:4). Many have been deceived into believing the father of lies (Jn 8:44). Our future generation would be hopeless unless they learn the truth from home (Prov 22:6), the local church (1 Tim 3:5), and a good bible-based Christian education (2 Tim 2:15).
The lies of evolution have already captivated many ”through philosophy and vain deceit,” (Col 2:8), which led to the acceptance of humanism, atheism, agnosticism, homosexuality, and other immoral lifestyles (1 Cor 6:9). They don’t believe in eternal life that is received only by trusting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour by faith (Rom 10:9). They don’t believe in moral absolutes or any standards of right and wrong. Death for them is simply ceasing to exist! Many intellectuals in our days seem eager to invent and follow “cunningly devised fables” (2 Pet 1:16), to explain away the truths that are clearly taught in the Bible (Jn 8:32).
But the root of the problem did not come from their scholarly heads; the problem is in their hearts, which “is deceitful above all things” (Jer 17:9). They chose not to believe the truth because they walk “after their own lusts” (v. 3b). They know full well that if they admit the existence of the Only True God of the universe (Isa 46:9), then they would have to bow before Him in humble obedience (Acts 20:21), or face “the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” (Rev 19:15). If there is a holy and righteous God, then there will be a day of judgment (Heb 9:27). Those who deny His existence will also be there! God bless you!
