We Can't Hide Our Sins
Mark 4:22 says, “For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.”

Jesus taught His disciples another parable or a “comparison” (v. 30), by using a common candle to illustrate a profound spiritual meaning (v. 21). God’s word gives light to this darkened world (Ps 119:105). It illuminates the pathway for lost souls who “loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (Jn 3:19). It provides hope by showing them the only way to get saved is “through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Rom 3:24). When Jesus was here, He was “the light of the world” (Jn 9:5).
His light shined brightly to point people towards God’s amazing grace and great love (Jn 3:16)! His light was not designed to be hidden (Mt 5:15). He came to reveal the truth to those in darkness (Jn 8:32)! His light holds the power to manifest the hidden things – not only of God to man, but also the hidden things within man shall “be known and come abroad” (Lk 8:17). The gospel (1 Cor 15:1), is a message that exposes man’s sinfulness (Rom 3:23), and their need to repent and turn to Jesus by faith (Acts 20:21).
Lost people are like nocturnal creatures – they flee from the light when it shines upon them! However, when they acknowledge the truth and humbly receive Jesus as their only Saviour by faith (Rom 10:9), there will be no more darkness. Because “God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 Jn 1:5). One day, all the hidden things will be revealed. God’s children will have their secrets exposed at “the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Cor 5:10). While lost sinners will see themselves being judged “according to their works” (Rev 20:12), at the great white throne judgment. We can never hide our sins, because God’s eyes “are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Prov 15:3). It is far better to confess our sins (1 Jn 1:9), than to wait for God to expose them (Num 32:23)! God bless you!
