When The Wicked Compass The Righteous

Habakkuk 1:2 says, “O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!”

The prophet Habakkuk wrote around 620 BC. His prophecy was partially fulfilled (v. 6), when the Babylonians carried away captives the people of Judah (2 Chr 36:7). The final fulfillment will come to fruition during the second coming of our Lord Jesus (Rev 22:5). This is further explained in chapter 3 of Habakkuk (Hab 3:4), while chapter 2 has to do with the destruction of the antichrist; “that man of sin” (2 Thes 2:3), and a “teacher of lies” (Hab 2:18)! The last portion of chapter 1 describes the violence (v. 9), and the iniquity of wickedness (v. 13), that Habakkuk witnessed as he cried out for salvation of the Lord. This would be similar to the great tribulation period during the reign of the antichrist (Rev 13:15).

He will wreak great havoc and violence because he is both the evil man and “the violent man” (Ps 140:1). It is part of God’s plan not to stop the violence of the antichrist until He has fully turned the Jewish remnant to Himself (Rev 6:10). This is the reason why “he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Mt 24:13)! Habakkuk saw “the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth” (v.4). When judgment doesn’t go forth, wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong (Isa 5:20).

Jesus was wrongly judged by the Pharisees when they attributed His miracles to Beelzebub (Mt 12:27). Then He was wrongly sentenced to be crucified (Lk 23:22). This is happening today in our nation; God was taken out of public education and the courts. He was replaced by the teachings on evolution, abortion, and homosexuality. There is perversion of justice when folks who are doing what is right and exposing evil are being persecuted. The wicked don’t like the truth (Rom 1:28), while the liberals cry foul (Isa 32:8). But one day, judgment shall come from our God of truth, Who is “just and right” (Deut 32:4)! God bless you!
