Born again

1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

If you have trusted Jesus alone as your Lord and Savior by faith (Eph 2:8), then you have been “born again” into the family of God (Jn 1:12). When our Lord Jesus spoke to Nicodemus (Jn 3:1), He told him, “except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (Jn 3:3). To be “born again” means to be spiritually born from above! It carries the idea of experiencing the second birth or a new life “in Christ” (2 Cor 5:17), “by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). It is being saved from God’s judgment “into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:14), which is the second death! The faith that is needed to get saved comes “by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom 10:17).

According to the parable of the sower, “the seed is the word of God” (Lk 8:11). The seeds that fall into “good ground” (Mt 13:8), represent those who heard God’s word, “and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit” (Mt 13:23); “the fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22)! The “word of God is quick, and powerful” (Heb 4:12). It has the power to change and impact our lives for God’s glory (Heb 1:3).

As we read and study our King James Bible (2 Tim 2:15), we should not even think about editing or revising the very words that shall accomplish that which pleases Him (Isa 55:11)! When we are witnessing to someone about God’s saving grace (Acts 8:30), it is important to open the Bible or even quote passages word for word if we don’t have one available (Col 3:16). Lost souls can potentially be saved through the preaching of God’s word (Rom 10:14)! It has the power to cleanse us (Jn 17:17), to correct us, and instruct us “in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16). We need to get in His word, and let His word get in us! God bless you!
