Does Your Talk Match Your Walk?
1 John 2:4 says, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

After we have been saved by God’s grace through faith (Eph 2:8), there will be some changes that are expected to happen in our lives (2 Cor 5:17). We are now “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor 5:20). But since we are still in the flesh, it is common to retain some characteristics of “the old man” (Eph 4:22). Therefore, the personal testimonies that we express in both our actions and our words are very important! If we say that we know Jesus (1 Jn 5:20), that we “abide in Him” (v. 28), and that we “walk in the light” (1 Jn 1:7), then that is our testimony.
These are easy to say, but are we really doing them? Because if they are just words but not in action (Jms 1:22), then we are liars, and the truth is not in us! As God’s children, are we presenting our “bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God” (Rom 12:1)? Are we living a life of “sanctification and honour” (1 Thes 4:4)? Are we giving thanks “in every thing” (1 Thes 5:18)? These are just some of God’s will in the lives of every believer if we are to obey Him and “walk as children of light” (Eph 5:8). Sadly, many who call themselves Christians are not living a sanctified life (1 Cor 6:11).
They are too conformed to the worldly culture (Col 2:8), and are more concerned with pleasing others rather than pleasing God (Acts 5:29)! Instead of being thankful and being content (Heb 13:5), they keep on complaining (Lam 3:39), just like Israel in the wilderness (Num 14:2). There is such a disparity if we say that we know Jesus but we are not doing His will. Our talk should match our walk! We need to always put our testimony to the test to make sure that our profession of faith (Rom 10:9), matches our lives. We must walk as Jesus walked (v. 6), and love as He loved! God bless you!
