Don't Walk Away
John 6:69 “And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

After Jesus revealed the truth about Himself as “the living bread” (v. 51), many of His disciples cannot comprehend its spiritual meaning (v. 61). So, they “went back, and walked no more with Him” (v. 66). Then Jesus asked those who stayed behind if they would “also go away” (v. 67). Peter answered on behalf of the group and declared that Jesus is “that Christ, the Son of the living God!” The faithful disciples who remained took a step that many Christians today would not take (Zeph 1:6). But when we take that step of faith (Ps 18:36), we are fully trusting “in the Lord” (Prov 3:5). Even when the road ahead may seem uncertain, God promised to establish our ways (Prov 4:26).
It can become overwhelming at times (Isa 43:2), yet He leads us to a closer and more intimate relationship with Him (Prov 2:20). His desire (Jer 29:11), is for us to have a life that is filled with hope (Rom 15:13), “and stablished in the faith” (Col 2:7). Peter was able to discern the connection between Jesus and His words (v. 63), when he said, “we believe and are sure.” He demonstrated his faith by believing that Jesus is Who He claims to be.
His certainty resulted in a changed life (2 Cor 5:17), with a new desire and direction to follow Jesus (Lk 9:23)! To believe and receive God’s words (Jn 11:26), is to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour by faith (Jn 5:24). Because He is “the Word” (Jn 1:1), and “the Word of life” (1 Jn 1:1). Peter’s understanding and acceptance of the truth caused him to state with confidence that he would not walk away! Have you tasted and seen “that the Lord is good” (Ps 34:8)? We may wander away at times, but He will always convict us to come to ourselves (Lk 15:17). When we experience God’s best for our lives, we will never be satisfied with substitutes or imitations. And we will never walk away! God bless you!
