God Bless America

Psalms 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”

America is blessed because it was founded upon biblical principles; from the Christian Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620, to some of the most influential signers of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, who were devout Christians. Despite their differing opinions, these founding fathers were united in their desire for religious freedom and the separation of church and state! However, America today is not a Christian nation! But I am thankful for our first amendment right of religious freedom, allowing us to preach God's word (2 Tim 4:2), and to share His word through our soulwinning ministries (Mk 16:15).

Although we have many churches that witnessed several great awakenings, and it has sent out numerous missionaries "to preach the gospel in the regions beyond" (2 Cor 10:16), but it has never been a "nation whose God is the Lord." It never truly humbly submitted to God's word (Rom 13:1), and existed for His glory (1 Cor 10:31). Indeed, America is a place where the pursuit of one's dream for personal liberty and economic opportunities can become a reality! We are thankful for the leaders of our past who acknowledged God and declared their complete dependence upon Him.

Sadly, the heritage and biblical foundations of our country are rapidly sinking "upon the sand" (Mt 7:26). When we forsake God, He will also forsake us (Jer 2:13). We are no longer one nation under God! "Righteousness exalteth a nation" (Prov 14:34), but our problems cannot be fixed without replacing the destroyed foundations (Ps 11:3), with a new structure (Jer 1:10), that is built "upon a rock" (Mt 7:24). Christians, let us take a firm stand on the foundation of our Lord Jesus (1 Cor 3:11)! God bless you!
