God's Faithfulness
Lamentations 3:58 says, “O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.”

Jeremiah expressed his deep sorrow over the terrible sufferings endured by his people when the Babylonians invaded and destroyed Jerusalem (2 Ki 25:1). But Israel’s king Zedekiah had him thrown in prison (Jer 32:2), instead of listening to his warnings. While enduring his harsh afflictions, the prophet encouraged the people about God’s faithfulness if they would simply trust in Him (Ps 35:1). Because the Lord had already “pleaded the causes” of his soul! Jeremiah did not say that he was hoping God might do it; but he speaks the indisputable truth that God has already done it (Mic 7:9)! Notice the verbs “pleaded” and “redeemed” are both in the past tense.
Everything about God is faithful, because He is “the faithful God” (Deut 7:9)! Sadly, many professing believers today find it difficult to trust in God’s faithfulness, especially “in times of trouble” (Ps 10:1). We need to understand that God is unchanging (Mal 3:6), and He stands ready to help us (Ps 46:1), if we “seek His face continually” (1 Chr 16:11). We also need to be reminded that “all the promises of God” (2 Cor 1:20), are true! He will never leave us, nor forsake us (Heb 13:5). God took care of Jeremiah while in prison by providing him “daily a piece of bread” (Jer 37:21).
He also promised to take care of His faithful children by supplying all our needs (Php 4:19). Through every trial and every spiritual battle that we face, we can always stand firm on God’s “faithful word” (Titus 1:9); knowing that He is a faithful companion every step of the way (Ps 37:23). He never ceases to instruct us, teach us, and guide us with His eye (Ps 32:8)! Because His faithfulness is unwavering and filled with hope (Rom 15:13), He makes it easier for us to pass through the uncertainties of life (Isa 43:2). He is faithful to fulfill His promises to all He has redeemed (1 Pet 1:19), until our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ returns (Php 1:6)! God bless you!
