Knowing And Doing God's Will
James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Knowing the will of God is one thing (Rom 12:2), but doing it is another. The will of God is the same for all His children, but His plans are different for everyone (Jer 29:11). God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet 3:9). Sadly, many will choose the broad way “that leadeth to destruction” (Mt 7:13), instead of trusting Jesus alone as their Lord and Saviour by faith (Gal 3:26).
It is God’s will for His children to grow spiritually (1 Pet 2:2), through His word (2 Tim 2:15). It is also God’s will for us to pray (1 Tim 2:8), to give thanks (1 Thes 5:18), to attend church services (Heb 10:25), to go soulwinning (Prov 11:30), and to serve Him “with gladness” (Ps 100:2)! As God’s children, it is of utmost importance to be “doers of the word” by doing “the will of God” (1 Jn 2:17). If we are consistently obeying God’s will (Ps 37:5), then we can clearly find out His plans for our lives so we can walk in it (Isa 30:21).
We can’t just be “idle” (Prov 19:15), and expect God’s plans to suddenly appear in front of us. When we are busy doing His will faithfully, then He shall reveal His plans by directing our steps (Jer 10:23). If we do something for Him today, He will surely bless us so we can prepare for anything tomorrow. Because God’s plans are always seen along the way of our faithful service to Him. Yes, it will require work or effort on our part (Col 3:23). Therefore, we have to “run with patience the race that is set before us” (Heb 12:1). That race will only be finished when God’s plan for our lives is completed here on earth. Just like Paul, when he came to the end of his ministry – he said, “I have finished my course” (2 Tim 4:7). In the mean-time, we’ll work ‘till Jesus comes! God bless you!
