No More Tears

Revelation 21:4 says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

All “the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:26), are considered “strangers and pilgrims” (1 Pet 2:11), passing through in this world and on our way to the promised home in Heaven (Jn 14:3). But along the way, we shall encounter various circumstances that would trouble us (Jn 16:33), and potentially hinder our spiritual growth (Eph 3:13). There are also elements in “this present evil world” (Gal 1:4), such as diseases, discouragement, death, and the devil, that can make our journey home more treacherous.

Our passage gives us hope and encouragement that all of these adversities and fiery trials (1 Pet 4:12), “shall be no more” when our journey here on earth is over! We shall finally be in our Father’s house where there is absolute peace and perfection. We’re all familiar with life’s troubles and the many things we can think about that have gone unplanned (Jms 4:14). Sadly, most of us still bear the scars of those journeys in our hearts and minds! When we leave this world, either by the rapture (1 Thes 4:17), or the grave (Ps 49:14), there are many things that can no longer follow us.

In Heaven, there “shall be no more death.” Never again shall we be stricken by grief when a loved one dies (1 Thes 4:13). “Sorrow” or severe feeling of sadness and heartache is often coupled with “crying,” when we are overwhelmed with deep emotional pain. These too will not follow us! Both emotional and physical “pain” that we encounter as we move through this world such as broken homes, broken hearts, and broken bodies, will not be present in Heaven. All circumstances that drive us to “tears” shall be wiped away by our God. The sorrows of life may trouble us today. But as children of God (Jn 1:12), none of those things shall ever exist in our heavenly home! God bless you!
