Only God Can Make The Crooked Straight
Ecclesiastes 1:15 says, “That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.”

Solomon tells us “that which is crooked cannot be made straight,” because it is distorted or twisted. However, if God made it or allowed it to be crooked, then He is the only One “Who can make that straight” (Ecc 7:13). There are many things in this world that are naturally crooked; like trees, vines, and rivers. But it is also filled with the spiritual crookedness of sin (Rom 5:12). Satan, “that crooked serpent” (Isa 27:1), has “blinded the minds of them which believe not” (2 Cor 4:4)! God told Moses that the children of Israel “are a perverse and crooked generation” (Deut 32:5), because of their sins of “rebellion” (Josh 22:22), “idolatry” (Eze 6:5), and “murmurings” (Num 14:27).
As bible-believing Christians, we are instructed to be “blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation” (Php 2:15). People should see us as living testimonies “of Christ” (2 Cor 3:3). And even if they disagree with us (2 Pet 3:3), they should not be able to point out any areas of hypocrisy in our lives (1 Pet 2:1). We need to be straight like an arrow and true at all times! But it seems that no matter how bright our light shines in this world (Mt 5:16), lost souls continue to live crookedly, because they “loved darkness rather than light” (Jn 3:19).
No matter how much money a government spends in trying to reform and straighten their crooked nation, it is only temporary at best. Solomon had already shown us (Ecc 2:3), that no one can truly succeed in trying to make a crooked world straight! Even many professing believers today are being heavily influenced by the crooked crowd that “they should not obey the truth” (Gal 3:1). Only Jesus can make them free (Jn 8:32), and lead them to the strait and narrow way “which leadeth unto life” (Mt 7:14). When He comes again (Rev 19:16), all “the crooked shall be made straight” (Isa 40:4)! God bless you!
