Thank God For His Grace
Luke 17:16 says, “And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”

As Jesus passed by “the midst of Samaria and Galilee” (v. 11), He met there ten lepers, “which stood afar off” (v. 12). When they cried out to Him for “mercy” (v. 13), He commanded them to go and show themselves to the priests; “as they went, they were cleansed” (v. 14). It was “the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought unto the priest” (Lev 14:2). But of the ten, only one returns to Jesus to give Him the glory (v. 15)!
He realized that he has been healed even though he did not have to present himself to the priest; because “he was a Samaritan” – the law had no authority over him! He came back and fell down at Jesus feet, “giving Him thanks” for what He has done to him. The other nine that were cleansed went out to honor the law (Lev 13:5), but this Samaritan came back to thank Jesus for His grace! If we can set a daily alarm on our cell phones to remind us all that the Lord has done for us, then we shall “stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord” (1 Chr 23:30). Giving thanks to God “in every thing” (1 Thes 5:18), helps us to cultivate a spirit of joy and peace within our hearts (1 Thes 3:9).
When we acknowledge His daily blessings and provisions in our lives (Jms 1:17), we shall be reminded of His “abundant grace” (2 Cor 4:15). Because He “is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us” (Eph 2:4). If we are obedient to Him (Jn 14:15), He promised to guide us every step of the way (Ps 32:8), even along the valleys and mountain tops of life! Sadly, most people fail in the area of thanksgiving; even to others around them (2 Tim 3:2). We need to take the time to praise and thank God for His amazing grace in our lives (Heb 13:15)! God bless you!
