Walk By Faith, Not By Sight
2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”

Most people today are led by their feelings or emotions in making some important decisions in their lives. The problem with this is “the heart is deceitful above all things” (Jer 17:9). However, when we trusted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour (Rom 10:9), it was “through faith” (Eph 2:8). After being “justified by faith” (Rom 5:1), we are commanded to “live by faith” (Rom 1:17), and to “walk by faith, not by sight!” Surely, it is easier for most folks to believe when they are able to see something tangible. But we must not be like the Jews who required a sign, and the Greeks who sought after wisdom (1 Cor 1:22). It resulted in them despising the simple preaching of “Christ crucified” (1 Cor 1:23).
Because they always expected to see some amazing demonstration of God’s power (Mt 12:38), and by human philosophies and religion (Col 2:8). God’s word is the absolute truth (Ps 119:160). Because Jesus, “the Word was God” (Jn 1:1)! When we trusted Him as our Saviour by faith after hearing God’s word (Rom 10:17), we acted upon what God said from His living word (Heb 4:12). Some say that they felt like a huge weight was lifted off their shoulders after getting saved.
This might be true, but salvation is not merely based on our feelings – it is primarily based on our faith upon what God says in His word (Jn 7:38). We don’t have to see first to believe. But if we believe first in Jesus (Jn 14:11), then we shall see the miraculous transformation of our lives “in Christ” (2 Cor 5:17). We are no longer who we were before salvation. We are now “complete in Him” (Col 2:10), because we are the possessors of “eternal life” (1 Jn 5:11). The “fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22), is also seen in our lives (Mt 7:20). We must never allow any feelings of fear, anger, or loneliness derail our faith. We must continue to trust God’s word and walk by faith, not by sight! God bless you!
