Walk In Truth
3 John 1:4 says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

John encourages his fellow believers to show hospitality “to the brethren, and to strangers” (v. 5), who are passing through their churches. It is always a blessing when it is done with “brotherly kindness” (2 Pet 1:7). The manifestation of this deed is borne out of their love for the truth as exemplified by Gaius (v. 1). It gave John great joy when his “children walk in truth.” This should be a fundamental character trait of all bible-believing Christians. When we follow and obey God’s ways (Jn 14:15), we would then walk in His truth (Ps 86:11).
We would align ourselves with God’s ultimate purpose for our lives. Because truth is not only a concept but a “way of life” (Pro 6:23). It guides us every step of the way (Ps 37:23), along our spiritual journey – His word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path (Ps 119:105). We are daily faced with life’s choices that often test our commitment to truth and integrity (Prov 20:7), or sincerity and honesty. When we trusted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour by faith (Acts 20:21), the truth has made us free (Jn 8:32)! Our bodies became “the temple of the Holy Ghost” (1 Cor :19).
We are commanded to “be filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18), so that we can “live in the Spirit” (Gal 5:25). When we choose to “walk in the Spirit” (Gal 5:16), we can walk in truth! Thus, honoring and glorifying our Saviour while reflecting the character of His light (1 Thes 5:5), to those around us. When we walk in God’s truth, our integrity will become evident both in our thoughts and in our actions (Ps 26:11). When we apply His love, mercy and truth in our lives, then we shall “find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man” (Prov 3:4). By walking in God’s truth, we also cultivate a resilient atmosphere of trust and sincerity in our relationships and interactions with others! God bless you!
