Read This Law That They May Hear
Deuteronomy 31:11 says, “When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.”

The priests were commanded to “read this law” when all Israel were gathered together during “the feast of tabernacles” (Lev 23:34); commemorating the time when they were dwelling in tabernacles during their forty years of wilderness wandering (Nm 14:33). Moses was referring to the exact words he wrote that were dictated to him by the Lord (Lev 1:1). He did not compile those words with some changes or revisions, just like the modern versions of the Bible. But he wrote down the very words of God (Mt 5:18)!
I am thankful that God, Who gave all scripture “by inspiration” (2 Tim 3:16), has also promised to perfectly preserve His very words in our King James Bible (Ps 12:7). “The word of God is quick, and powerful” (Heb 4:12). It is like a fire and “like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces” (Jer 23:29). When lost sinners hear His word (Rom 10:17), they are convicted to trust Jesus alone as their Lord and Saviour by faith (Acts 20:21). Then they can grow spiritually by desiring “the sincere milk of the word” (1 Pet 2:2)! Israel needs to hear God’s word “that they may learn, and fear the Lord” (v. 12).
Most people that are only attending Sunday morning services sporadically are generally weak spiritually. But when they “study” (2 Tim 2:15), God’s word, they will be “throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim 3:17). They will know the importance of giving “attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine” (1 Tim 4:13). Then they would “understand the fear of the Lord” (Prov 2:5), which results in a strong desire to attend all church services (Heb 10:25), to go soulwinning (Prov 11:30), to support their local church through tithes and offerings (Mal 3:10), and to get involved in various ministry opportunities (Ps 100:2). People who are not learning what God said have “no fear of God before their eyes” (Rom 3:18)! God bless you!
