The Faith Of Moses' Parents
Hebrews 11:23 says, “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.”

Faith is the foundation in which all our hopes for the future are built upon (v. 1); “Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone” (Eph 2:20). Salvation is by God’s grace “through faith” (Eph 2:8). It comes by hearing God’s word (Rom 10:17). We are “justified by faith” (Rom 5:1), by trusting Jesus alone as our Saviour and Lord (Rom 10:9). God’s children are all expected to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7)!
When Pharaoh ordered all the male Hebrew children to be “cast into the river” (Ex 1:22), Moses’ parents placed him inside an ark “by the river's brink” (Ex 2:3). His sister hid and watched until Pharaoh’s daughter found him (Ex 2:4). By God’s perfect plan (Jer 1:5), Moses’ ended up being nursed by his own mother while earning wages from Pharaoh’s daughter (Ex 2:9). Moses’ parents “were not afraid of the king's commandment,” but they feared God. We can see a courageous display of their faith when the laws of the land contradict the word of God (Acts 5:29)! Sadly, most Christians today are afraid to share the gospel to someone in public, because they think it’s against the law. However, sharing our faith and witnessing (Acts 1:8), are protected from government intrusion by both the First and Fourteenth Amendment free speech clauses of the US Constitution!
Giving away free gospel tracts or invitations to church events, and talking to people about salvation is not considered solicitation. Obviously, we must exercise godly wisdom (Jms 3:17), discernment (Mal 3:18), coupled with love and compassion that would make “a difference” (Jude 1:22), in people’s lives. We must also learn to respect other people’s privacy and space with tactfulness (Prov 16:21), and sensitivity (Prov 15:1). We are still bound to follow the laws on how and where we can witness (Rom 13:3). One day, the exemplary faith of Moses’ parents will be of great value to us! God bless you!
